FUNCTIONAL MANUAL THERAPY (FMT)

Functional Manual Therapy (FMT®) as taught by the Institute of Physical Art is
a hands-on modalities-free (i.e. no hot packs, ultrasound nor massage)
integrated evaluation and treatment approach that identifies specific motion
restrictions assessing the entire person, not just the injured site. Treating only
the injured site and chasing pain is not holistic, typically ineffective and
doesn’t last. You might feel some relief, but quickly thereafter the pain
reappears necessitating more sessions. FMT combines optimal posture,
breathing, body mechanics to include Automatic Core Engagement (ACE)
with CoreFirst® strategies, functional soft tissue release, functional joint
mobilization and manipulation, neuromuscular retraining using advanced
Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF), and functional strengthening
for accelerated optimal outcomes. It can be engaged lying down, sitting,
standing, and performing dynamic activities. FMT has allowed me to rapidly
help patients who have had many years of pain who have seen countless
other practitioners with no lasting benefit. For more information click here
